The charming Cedars home and surrounding grounds at 4145 Old Canton Road were purchased by the Fondren Renaissance Foundation in March, 2004 after receiving a substantial grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission Building Fund for the Arts. After a major fundraising drive amongst Fondren neighbors and friends raised the necessary matching funds, the historic structure was adaptively renovated to become an innovative venue for arts shows, small theatrical performances, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, fundraisers and corporate retreats.
      Today, in honor of the magnanimous grant received from the Mississippi Arts Commission, the Fondren Renaissance Foundation presents an annual series of free art shows under the auspices of The Four Seasons of The Cedars

Performing and Visual Arts Series. These shows are presented once every quarter, or season of the year – winter, spring, summer and fall and attempt to represent Mississippi artists of lesser known fame. Additionally, the foundation proudly presents the free Symphony at Sunset concert outdoors on the great front lawn of The Cedars in the autumn of each year. This community concert features a themed performance of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra presented to thousands of adoring patrons who come with picnic blankets, lawn chairs and their food and beverage of choice.
